The Flex-Friday event is both a C-tier tournament and an opportunity to early check-in for the Spring Wide Open. If you haven’t already, you can book a tee time on DGScene. If all tee times are taken, don’t worry! We can still get you in! The course will be closed for public play Friday and Saturday and is specially reserved just for us! Just show-up with at least 3 players and you’ll be able start! Or, play the odds…come hang out for a while and see if someone else shows up looking for a group!
Playing in the event is not mandatory for early check-in. You are welcome to swing by to check-in and grab your player pack at any time prior to 5 pm! If you’re not able to early check-in, no worries! Your player pack will be available the next morning!
Please avoid parking in front of business and residential properties.
Day 1 Parking:
We do ask, if possible, for you to carpool with another player(s).
Even if that’s not possible, both church courses on day one should have more than enough room to accommodate parking.
Day 2 Parking:
Earlier cards should have no issue finding spots. Again, we encourage carpooling if possible. Cards later in the day may or may-not be able to park in the Spring Valley parking lot. If the SV lot is full, we ask you to park at the Woods Edge Church parking lot across the street.
There will be no players meeting Saturday morning as all the information you need for the event is in this email.
Tacos in Low Places food truck will be onsite cooking breakfast for sale. Most likely at the Northside Christian course, but the location will be at their discretion.
After check-in it is recommended to make your way to your starting hole and warm-up there. You are advised to show-up to your assigned tee box at least 10 minutes before tee off.
PDGA live scoring will be the official scoring method. The password for the event is: Lone Star Disc
PDGA now requires 2 forms of scorekeeping for sanctioned tournaments. Therefore, you may elect to keep a back-up scorecard either on paper (will be supplied) and/or Udisc. All of the layouts are loaded onto Udisc and are clearly labeled as Spring Wide Open (pool specific) layouts.
PLEASE MAKE SURE EVERYONE CONFIRMS THEIR SCORE ON PDGA LIVE SCORING AFTER EACH ROUND IS COMPLETED.
We cannot continue the event in a timely manner unless ALL scores are submitted ASAP. If you are unsure how to confirm your scores, find your course TD at tournament central after the round is completed and we will walk you through the process.
LUNCH —Tacos in Low Places food truck will be onsite cooking lunch options for sale.
Round 2 is estimated to start between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, approximately 1 hour after all cards are in from round 1. The official starting time for round 2 will be announced on the Spring Wide Open Website (www.SpringWideOpen.com), Facebook page, and on DGScene.
Optional Player Party at BareBack Bar & Icehouse
We will have plenty of fun & games, as well as the Spring Wide Open Raffle AKA “Waffle!” (You do not need to be present to win)
When you order, make sure to let the bar staff know that you are there because of the disc golf tournament! (If needed, see Spring Wide Open website for directions to venue)
Round 3 tee times will be performance based. Lower divisions will start at earlier tee times and progress forward. Round 3 Check-Ins will be 10-minutes prior to your tee time. Players who are late for their tee times run the risk of stiff penalties (par + 4 for each hole missed), so make sure to be there on time!
Chris McClung of The Fling Show will be our announcer so please make sure to check-in with him prior to tee off to verify your information and name pronunciation!
In the event of rain, some of the tee pads can get slippery, specifically the tee’s with rubber pads. Players may elect to tee-off from the side of ANY tee pad, regardless of weather conditions, if it has a flag next to it.
Layout hole 17 is the Grow Disc Golf $5K/$10K Ace Challenge hole! Ace this hole and you will win big time! All players are eligible for this challenge regardless of ace pot entry!
How does it work?
Step one: Introduce yourself to the cameraman
Step two: Tell the cameraman what type of disc you are throwing
Step three: FULL SEND!
If you ace, the cameraman will follow you to the basket to retrieve your disc where you will repeat steps one and two. Your ace will be worth a minimum of $5,000! If you ace with a Dynamic Disc, Westside Disc, or Lat64 disc, your prize will be doubled to $10,000!
If you Ace with a Lone Star Disc, you will receive the 5 grand and become a LOCAL HERO and will live in infamy.
We wish you all the best of luck and would LOVE for someone to hit this huge prize!
Interviews, awards, and payouts will commence as cards come in and scores are verified. In the event of a tie, players will play-off. It is possible that the playoff holes will be holes that are not on the tournament layout. i.e. unused Finesse holes.
Texas has declared that face masks are not required. However, we are still dealing with COVID-19, so please be aware of safety and prevention measures and respect players wishes if they choose to wear a mask.
Caddies, observers, and/or galleries will be allowed. As long as distancing guidelines and proper disc golf etiquette is followed.
Please remember that this is a sanctioned B-tier event and PDGA rules will be followed and enforced.
